Edward F. Gaylor

b. 1853; d. May 9, 1914

Gaylor was born in the Eastern District in 1853. He worked in partnership with his father, William H. Gaylor in a practice that was located at 110 South 8th Street. After his father's death, Edward practiced on his own, with offices at Manufacturers' Bank on Broadway.

Gaylor served in the 47th Regiment of the National Guard of New York, where he eventually held the rank of Colonel (the youngest ever to hold that rank in the regiment). He served in the regiment for 22 years, and as colonel from 1884 to 1891. 1
