St. Matthew English Lutheran Church

Church building was originally constructed in 1845 for the South Brooklyn Presbyterian Church.1 St. Matthew's English Lutheran Church was organized in 1858. Its first house of worship was a hall on Atlantic Avenue, after which the congregation met on State Street. In 1879 the congregation purchased the former South Brooklyn Presbyterian Church located at the northeast corner of Clinton and Amity Streets.2 The church was demolished prior to 1898.
