Built for Catherine Lipsius, widow of Claus Lipsius ([ibib]856[/ibib] page#). The Claus-Lipsius Brewery, also designed by Engelhardt, was located at Forrest Street and Bushwick Avenue, with bottling facilities at Garden Street adn Bushwick Avenue. The Lipsius house is often (and incorrectly) described as the William Ulmer residence - Ulmer's residence (now demolished) was across the street at 680 Bushwick Avenue.
BUSHWICK AV. - Wm. C. Winters, 106 Van Siclen av, has plans in progress for three 2-sty brick dwellings. 20x63 ft, on Bushwick av, near Kosciusko st, for Dr. Packman, owner, care of architect. Total cost, $36,000. 1
Possibly C. P. H. Gilbert's first Brooklyn commission. These buildings are heavily modified, but there is still some remnant of a historic roof and cresting.
[UPDATE - the two buildings were demolished in early 2018.]
Now has a brick front (ca. 1925).
Either west or east of Bedford, both locations were part of urban renewal redevelopments.
One buildings remains substantially intact. Other two have been demolished or substantially remodeled.
