Williamsburgh Turn Verein

The Williamsburgh Turn Verein, or Turner Hall, was the "oldest and most prominent German society" in Brooklyn in the second half of the 19th century. The organization was founded sometime before 1858, and the building pictured here was probably constructed around 1860.

Smithsonian Hall

Smithsonian Hall, the only cast-iron building in Greenpoint, was built by Edward Smith, of Smith, Gray & Co. Gray tapped William F. Gaylor, architect for Smith, Gray & Co.'s Broadway cast-iron buildings, as the architect for this project.1

McCaddin Memorial Hall

Hall associated with Ss. Peter & Paul Parish. The building was contracted as a gift of Mrs. Jeremiah Walsh and named in honor of her brother.
