Cast-iron fronted dry goods store, attributed to W. H. Gaylor. Connected to 705 Driggs (1888, W. H. Gaylor, architect).
Built ca. 1840s or 1850s, possibly for J. C. Gandar. Occupied by Gandar's Bookstore through the 1880s. Purchased by Robert and John Whalen in 1886; housed their moving company through the 1940s. Building was demolished in 2007 for a new condominium development.
Multiple NBs are recorded - in 1924, 1930 and 1937. Existing building appears to date to 1930. Architect information is from the 1930 Certificate of Occupancy.
